Updated Website!

I finally got my web page updated. I got some new Jr. pics up although I am a little disappointed in the quality of alot of them and will definitely be redoing them when I get a chance. It is hard to find a place with good enough lighting this time of year but I am sure I will figure something out. My juniors are looking quite nice and I am looking forward to getting nice pictures of them!

BEW's

Here are the latest pictures of the VM/VC babies. They all survived the weather and are doing great! So far there are 2 obvious VM babies, 1 from Oopsie and 1 from Lela.

Let it Snow!

We got the snow we were hoping for and it was alot of fun, but it was a ton of work!
I am glad things are finally thawing out here. I was having to go out every morning and remove the snow from the rabbit kennel so the roof did not collapse. Twice a day I was going out to thaw out water bottles on top of the regular cleaning and feeding so it is nice to have a break! I spent 3 hours yesterday cleaning cages and cleaning up the mess the melting snow had made and I think things are finally almost back to normal.

No Tri Color Babies :-(

What a bummer! Solar Wind had a horrible labor and delivery. She spent 3 days in the house so I could keep a constant eye on her. She only had 2 babies. Both babies were DOA. By the end of the ordeal I was just thankful I didn't lose her. She is resting and recouping and will be rebred to Halo in hopes for some January babies. She is such a cute doe and already has a BIS to her name!

Vienna Babies!

My VM babies are here and I am soo excited! It is better than Christmas morning! Lela had 10 babies all live. Two of them are very small so I don't know if they will make it. I fostered 2 of her babies to Oopsie who only had 3 babies( also vienna carriers) Out of both litters it looks like there are 4 VM for sure. All of them are agouti colors except these two babies from Lela. They look non-extension which is weird because I didn't expect that from Lela. There is one that has a perfect full dutch blaze which is just too cute. I am going to have way to much fun watching these guys grow!

Show News

I have not been to any shows since Fair in August. Things just haven't worked out so I am really greatfull to Vanessa and Tomalene from Velvet Touch for showing Kayla for me at Mt. Vernon. She only got a second place but got some good comments. ( she was a little out of condition)She is out of Lela and Keepsake and I am more than happy with the way she is turning out. I wanted to get her on the table at least once as a junior and hopefully she will place better once she is a senior.

Switching Feed

There has been a whole lot of talk about people switching over to Purina Fiber 3 as their feed choice. I have heard great things from several different sources and it is around $3.00 less per bag so I am going to give it a try. I have been using Pfaus mixed half n' half with Purina Advanced Nutrition for about a year now so it shouldn't be much of a transition. I plan to keep mixing the Pfaus with the Fiber 3 and see how that works.

Junior Does

I am very happy with the way my junior does are turning out. The one on the far left is a Lilac Tri. I love the Tri colors and this girl it turning out pretty nice.

The other two are out of crosses with LHHR bloodlines and I am very happy with the improvements. I will be using the rabbits I got from Lana to improve the type on my non extension and chocolate lines.

(A snake dared to crawl into the cage with these girls today and did not live to tell. Who knew a rabbit would kill a snake?)

Destiny & Cameo's Litters

Cameo is a favorite here. She is very small and has an amazing personality! Her type needs a little work so I am hoping this cross with Keeper will improve the type on the babies. Cameo is tight in the crown and Keeper throws amazing heads so I am anxious to see what they guys are going to look like.

Destiny and Buster's babies are so cute! Three of them have very similar markings and are hard to tell apart at a glance. So far they are nice and compact with great head and crown. They are going to be fun to watch grow. There are a couple of clear favorites.

New Hay Racks

I finally got my hay racks up which will cut down on the time I have to be out in the cold when winter hits. It will make it easy for the kids to help out with the chores also.

My 4 year old loves cleaning cages. Her and I clean the cages every other day and put fresh ABM in the trays. We use the shop vac to clean up the hair and any spilled food around the cages. Some of the bunnies even like to be vacuumed.

BEW's & Tri Colors

I palpitated the does that are due next month and it appears that all three are pregnant. It is still a bit early but I am usually not wrong. I am really excited to see what Solar Wind and Halo produce. This will be his first litter and I am hoping for a couple of good type Tri colors.

If Lela and Oopsie both have VM's then my plan is to keep a buck from one litter and a doe from the other and sell my currant VM buck Chaos. They should have much better type than their sire.... although he is really descent for BEW lines.
